VP Sales Development

We have completed this engagement.
Yoda couldn’t take this job. Looking for the next-best thing, we are.

Avoid the temptation to write this entire announcement in Yoda-speak, I must! Get old quickly, it would! OK, so now that that’s out of my system – I mentioned in the last announcement that Adaptiva has just added two openings to its long-running streak of awesome new positions. The first of these, covered in that announcement, was for a Senior Director of Product Management

This second new Adaptiva opening is for a Senior Director of Sales Development. And this is where a certain diminutive green-skinned guru from the Star Wars series comes in.

You see, Adaptiva envisions for this role a highly capable teacher, trainer, coach, mentor, team leader – a Yoda. And since the real Yoda is unavailable (rumor has it he’s a front-runner for Sheryl Sandberg’s old job at Meta), we’re throwing it open to all of you out there who combine this talent-set with a fascination for sales and high-end tech.

For those of you just catching up with the goings-on of this particular Kirkland software company, Adaptiva provides serverless endpoint management that eliminates the need for a huge IT infrastructure and automates traditionally manual tasks. Its clients include Fortune 1000 companies like Walmart and Nokia, as well as top government clients like the US departments of State, Defense, and Homeland Security.

The individual in this role would lead Adaptiva’s global sales-development representative (SDR) team, showing them the ins and outs of developing revenue opportunities within their assigned territories. This includes leading the daily activities and quota-performance management of individual SDRs; training new and experienced SDRs in sales techniques; setting team goals and holding members accountable for reaching them; and fostering a spirit of growth and collaboration across the SDR force.

In addition, the job calls for a high degree of cooperation with other sales leaders, and with the marketing team. It reports to Adaptiva’s Chief Marketing Officer.

For this role, the company is seeking experience in hiring, onboarding and leading a successful SDR team. A substantive background in SaaS and endpoint management is strongly preferred.

PS From PSP: I realize this is a pretty serious shift in tone from a lighthearted announcement, but this is one of the first ones we’ve written since the horrific mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas – and I didn’t want to put off talking about it any longer.
By now, you’ve probably read and heard dozens, perhaps hundreds, of responses to this atrocity. I’ll simply address it from my own personal perspective as a mom, as a grandma, as someone who has lived pretty comfortably around guns all her life – and as a professional who focuses on helping individual human beings achieve their fullest potential in the job market.
It astonishes me to see just how desensitized and fatalistic we have become in this society to these increasingly routine – and incredibly brutal – mass eliminations of human life, human talent, human possibility.

These are children – children – with entire lives of potential and purpose fully ahead of them. We claim to value life, to value talent, to value the possibilities of the future. But then we not only allow these shootings to continue – we seemingly accept them as just part of what it means to be an American now.
And make no mistake – “accepting” is exactly what we are doing. Until we actively choose to do otherwise. ###
